Pre-Application Student Teaching Seminar for all C&I Adolescence, Childhood and TESOL Candidates who will be Student Teaching in the Fall 2010

Career Services and the Division of On-line Learning in conjunction with the Field Placement Office, has developed an on-line workshop on how to write an effective letter of introduction and resume (both application documents for student teaching) including information regarding specific content development, and editing and proofing techniques.

All candidates planning to student teach during the Fall 2010 semester must complete this on-line workshop.  It will be available starting October 15, 2009 and must be completed prior to November 13, 2009.  Instructions for signing onto the workshop are available by clicking here.

When you have completed the workshop, you will be expected to draft a letter of introduction and a resume, then email the drafts to the Field Placement Office (fpoffice@oswego.edu) no later than 3:00 pm on November 13, 2009.  Staff will proof and return your drafts to you for revision via email by December 8th.  Beginning Dec. 1st, you may stop in our office (208 Park Hall) and pick up a student teacher application packet.

If you do not complete the online workshop and/or do not submit a draft letter of introduction and resume for review, your documents will be sent to school districts as received.  It will be your responsibility to ensure your application documents are 100% error free and written in the correct voice.  If they are not 100% error free and/or content is not acceptable, it may seriously affect your ability to secure a student teaching position and/or placement location.  Therefore, it is definitely to your benefit to complete the workshop and submit your documents for review prior to final submission with your application packet.

Completed student teaching application packets must be submitted according to directions included in the packet no later than 3 pm on Feb. 10, 2010.
