Kelly Collins, Sarah Budde Named to 2008
All-SUNYAC Team. Collins Honored as SUNYAC
Rookie of the Year

 Freshman forward Kelly Collins and sophomore midfielder Sarah Budde of the Oswego State field hockey team were named to the 2008 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) All-Conference team as selected by the coaches.  Collins (Fairport) garnered first-team accolades and was also named SUNYAC Rookie of the Year, while Budde (Appleton/Barker) claimed second team honors.

Collins' first team selection is the first for an Oswego field hockey player since Robyn Bramoff earned the honor three consecutive seasons (200-2002).

  Collins, who joined the Lakers this fall after a year at Taft Prep School, Started in 15 of 15 games and was the team's top scorer with nine goals and nine assists for 27 points.  In SUNYAC play, she was second in scoring with 17 points on seven goals and three assists.  She registered multi-goal performances in three conference contests, scoring a season-high three goals and two assists in a 5-1 triumph over New Paltz, accounting for all of the scoring for Oswego in a 2-1 win over Oneonta State, and scoring twice and adding an assist during a 8-4 loss to The College at Brockport.

  Budde started in 14 games on the season and finished sixth in scoring with a pair of goals and three assists for seven points.  Both goals came in a 6-0 shutout victory over Wells College in the team's home finale.  She also registered a team-leading nine defensive saves as the Lakers' last line of defense aside from the goalkeeper.

   Oswego State finished the 2008 season with a 4-12 overall record and a 2-4 record in SUNYAC play under first-year coach Brandi Ostrander.

Oswego drops season finale, 2-1, on late goal in second half

  Host Ithaca College scored the winning goal with 2:10 remaining in the second half, registering a 2-1 victory over the Oswego State field hockey team in the season-finale for the Lakers on Saturday, Oct. 25.

Mazuchowski hat trick leads Lakers to 6-0 win over Wells in home finale

The Oswego State field hockey team scored a decisive 6-0 victory over Wells College in their final home game of the season Wednesday afternoon at Laker Field.  Freshman Katie Mazuchowski (Tonawanda/Sweet Home) tallied three goals, including the game winner in the game’s 14th minute.  Sophomore Sara Budde (Appleton/Barker) found the back of the net twice and assisted on one of Mazuchowski’s markers.

Lakers drop 8-4 shootout to Brockport

The Oswego State field hockey team made a game of it with the College of Brockport, staying even with the visitors for 56 minutes, but the Golden Eagles scored three unanswered goals in the game’s final 13 minutes to come away with an 8-4 triumph over the Lakers on Thursday, Oct. 9 on Laker Field.

Lakers' two-game win snapped with 4-0 loss to SUNYAC leading Geneseo

The Oswego State field hockey team were held to only two total shots in having had its two-game winning streak snapped, dropping a 4-0 decision to host and SUNYAC leading Geneseo on Saturday, Oct. 4.

Lakers get second straight win with 2-1 triumph over Elmira

Freshmen Kelly Collins and Jordan McGuire scored goals while sophomore Jamie Scharfe stopped 12 shots in goal as the Oswego State field hockey team picked up its second straight win, and third of the season, with a 2-1 victory at Elmira College on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
